A panel of regional and international experts will share their perspective on the challenges and opportunities of biosimilar adoption in Latin America, leveraging the learnings from biosimilars introduction in Europe and taking into consideration the current regulatory and access landscape. The symposium will start with an introduction on basic concepts on biosimilars, what they are but also what they are not (biobetters, non-comparable…). After this introduction, the learnings from the recent biosimilars introduction in Europe will be presented, focusing on the challenges/pitfalls to avoid and best practices to ensure the right biosimilars are adopted (quality, reputable, supply assurance, healthcare system sustainability, etc). Finally, the current regulatory/policy landscape for biosimilars in various Latin America countries will be presented, highlighting the potential improvement needs for successful biosimilars adoption.
